On the Prevention and Countermeasures for the Misuse of Financial Service Providers in Child Sexual Exploitation Crimes

About ACOSEC 2024

ECPAT Indonesia and Association of Criminal Law and Criminology Lecturer (ASPERHUPIKI) in collaborate with the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Republic of Indonesia, ECPAT International, Center for Study and Child Protection, and Yayasan OUR Indonesia will organize ASEAN Conference on “the Prevention and Countermeasures for the Misuse of Financial Service Providers in Child Sexual Exploitation Crimes” that will be held August 7-8, 2024 in Bali. This event will deep dive into three topics:

  1. Misuse of financial service providers in crimes of sexual exploitation of children at the International and ASEAN Countries level
  2. Good practices of detecting and reporting suspected transaction related to child sexual exploitation crimes by involving financial service providers
  3. Strategy and potential for collaboration in engaging financial service providers to eradicate sexual exploitation of children

This conference will be the first conference in ASEAN that discusses deeply about the situation of misuse of financial service providers in sexual exploitation crimes. It will provide an important forum featuring expert speakers and participants from various stakeholders representing government, law enforcer, Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU),  Financial Service Provider (including Financial Technology Company), International dan National NGO and UN Agency. This conference will produce a comprehensive report regarding the situation of misuse of financial service providers in sexual exploitation crimes and good practices, as well as strategic recommendations to eradicate sexual exploitation crimes through the involvement of financial service providers.

Misuse of financial service providers in crimes of sexual exploitation of children at the international and ASEAN Countries level.

  1. International and ASEAN Regulations related to financial service providers in protecting children ftom sexual exploitation
  2. Forms of misuse of financial service providers in child sexual exploitation transactions
  3. Misuse of the financial technology industry in child sexual exploitation crimes

SUB THEME II

Good pratices of detecting and reporting suspected transaction related to child sexual exploitation crimes by involving financial service providers.

  1. Experience in financial service providers and financial technology industry detecting and reporting suspected transaction related to child sexual exploitation crimes.
  2. A model for preventing the misuse of financial service providers in child sexual transactions.
  3. The policy of financial service providers in preventing and responding to child sexual exploitation crimes.
  4. The role of business in fulfilling children’s rights and preventing the misuse of financial institutions for the sexual exploitation of children.

Strategy and potential for collaboration in engaging financial service providers to eradicate sexual exploitation of children.

  1. International-level coorperation in various sectors in preventing and countering.
  2. ASEAN coorperation in various sectors in preventing and countering.
